Union Square is a hotel and shopping district in San Francisco that spans several blocks from the Union Square Park. Union Square has numerous high-end retailers and provides a big-city downtown shopping experience. Parking in the area is not free, but is served by a number of transit routes.

BART, Muni Metro
BART (East Bay/SF Airport) and Muni Metro trains run under Market Street. Powell Station is the stop for both systems in the Union Square area.
Historic streetcars, Cable cars
F-Market & Wharves streetcar stops on Market Street by 4th Street and by 5th Street.
Union Square is served by Powell-Hyde and Powell-Mason cable car lines. The terminus (turnaround) is located at Market and Powell, above BART and Muni Metro Powell Station.
Caltrain
The nearest Caltrain (Peninsula/San Jose) stop from Union Square is 4th & King Station, nearly a mile south. Muni 30 and 45 bus, as well as Muni Metro N Judah and T Third Street lines provide connection between Caltrain and Union Square. To walk from Caltrain, proceed north along 4th Street to Market Street.
Ferries
From either the Ferry Building or Pier 41, transfer to F-Market & Wharves streetcar to reach Union Square.
